My Dad said just recently a guy at his work inherited a bunch of assorted .22 caliber guns. After looking over the list, my Dad and two of his friends decided they might put in 200 bucks each and buy them all. (That was the price: $600 for all 32 of them.) My Dad looked at the list, and saw three he wanted, so he said he'd put in $200 for the three.
The three guns are very very nice.
The first and second are Winchester Model 1890 pump-action .22's. He doesn't know which of the three series', but they are worth the money alone. There may be some parts missing in each, but he said that maybe he could take parts from one, and make the second one whole. Plus, I found several places where parts could be purchased online for them.
The Third is a Savage Model 24. This is an over-under double barrel single shot of two kinds of rounds. The first type of round is .22 LR. The second is .410 shotgun. This gun is worth a lot by itself too, and there are less places where pieces could be missing. The gun is in the break open style, so there is not place in the action for parts to go wrong besides a simple fire pin issue, or the bullet ejector which could be fixed with grease, or replaced easily. Given these guns need some elbow grease, I'd say they'd be worth at least $2,000 total.
I'm excited, and I hope he puts in the $200 for these wonderful works of art. (Also, the barrels of the Winchester 1890's are hexagonal... or is it octogonal? They are both anywhere from 80-110 years old. ) I'm excited.
I can do anything I want, so why don't I do something?
